Non-invasive brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease: Clinical evidence, latest concepts and future goals: A systematic review

چکیده
Parkinson's disease (PD) is becoming a major public-health issue in an aging population. Available approaches to treat advanced PD still have limitations; new therapies are needed. The non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) may offer complementary approach by personalized stimulation. Although NIBS not as effective the gold-standard levodopa, recent randomized controlled trials show promising outcomes treatment of symptoms. Nevertheless, only few NIBS-stimulation paradigms shown improve PD's Current clinical recommendations based on level evidence reported Table 1 through 3. Furthermore, novel technological advances hold promise and soon enable deeper structures for longer periods.

Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation in Conversion (Functional) Weakness and Paralysis: A Systematic Review and Future Perspectives
Conversion (functional) limb weakness or paralysis (FW) can be a debilitating condition, and often causes significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. Most treatment concepts are multi-disciplinary, containing a behavioral approach combined with a motor learning program. Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) methods, such as electroconvuls...
متن کاملNon-invasive brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature.
A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to quantify the efficacy of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for the treatment of motor dysfunction in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Prospective studies which evaluated the effects of either TMS (12 studies) or ECT (five studies) on motor function in PD using the motor subscale of the Unifi...

متن کاملDoes non-invasive brain stimulation modify hand dexterity? Protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis
INTRODUCTION Dexterity is described as coordinated hand and finger movement for precision tasks. It is essential for day-to-day activities like computer use, writing or buttoning a shirt. Integrity of brain motor networks is crucial to properly execute these fine hand tasks. When these networks are damaged, interventions to enhance recovery are frequently accompanied by unwanted side effects or...
